Derek Lyle scored either side of half-time to send Queen of the South past Airdrieonians in the Ramsdens Cup.

Iain Russell threatened to give Queens the lead before Lyle broke the deadlock.

The striker fired home with a low shot just before the interval and added a second from close range midway through the second half.

The home side rarely threatened with Gregor Buchanan's saved effort in the first half the closest they came.
