Ross County 3-0 St Mirren

Two Richard Brittain goals helped Ross County register their first Premiership win of the season with an easy win over St Mirren at Victoria Park.

Stuart Kettlewell opened the scoring with an impressive 20-yard strike.

A foul on County's Rocco Quinn brought a penalty and Brittain scored the rebound after St Mirren goalkeeper David Cornell had saved the spot-kick.

Brittain fired in his second from the edge of the box to leave Saints still without a league win.

Danny Lennon's side have played one Premieship game less than the majority of their rivals, but the ever-closer proximity of bottom-placed Hearts will be beginning to alarm the Buddies.

Also a concern is the lack of goal-scoring opportunities, with Saints rarely troubling County goalkeeper Mark Brown in Dingwall - the signing of another forward must be one of Lennon's top priorities.

It is a valuable three points for Derek Adams' men after a run of three defeats in which they conceded nine goals.

Therefore, this clean-sheet in the Highlands will be an added bonus to a solid win.

Kettlewell broke the deadlock after picking up the ball in midfield and running on to unleash a fizzer past St Mirren's Cornell.

The hosts' lead was doubled at the second attempt by Brittain, who put in exactly the type of performance which made him a key part of County's fifth-place finish last season.

Brown had the odd save to make, keeping out a Kenny McLean effort on one occasion, but it was mostly one-way traffic.

And after the break Brittain received the ball following a corner and took a nice first touch to set-up his second touch - and goal - with a fine strike.
