Leeds have signed defender Scott Wootton from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.

The former England youth international, 21, made four first-team appearances at Old Trafford and has agreed a three-year contract at Elland Road.

He also spent time on loan at Tranmere, Peterborough and Nottingham Forest.

"He's a player who has played in the Champions League and someone we feel will develop with us," boss Brian McDermott told the club website., external

"I want to say thanks to the owners for doing the deal and bringing another young player to help us go forward."

Wootton is the fourth player to join Leeds this summer after midfielder Luke Murphy and strikers Noel Hunt and Matt Smith.
