Newport County are hoping to have striker Aaron O'Connor back from injury in the next fortnight.

O'Connor, the club's top scorer last season, is still recovering from a groin injury.

Also on the injury list is Andy Sandell, who is out for at least three months following a foot operation.

"[Aaron] is probably a couple of weeks away. He has stepped up his rehabilitation," said Newport manager Justin Edinburgh.

"We have got to be patient and we have got to be careful we don't push him too quickly. He's progressing."

On left-back Sandell, Edinburgh said: "Andy [is] out for a minimum of three months. Problem with the bone in his foot and [he] has had that repaired.

"We have picked up a lot of injuries over the last four to six weeks.

"We have to applaud the players how they have dealt with it because we have had a lot of senior players missing.

"It shows how good this squad is and how well they have coped."

Newport, who are in eighth in League Two, face ninth-placed Mansfield at home on Saturday.
