Colin Coates scores twice as he helps Crusaders to a 3-0 victory over Glentoran at The Oval

Overnight leaders Glentoran have fallen to fifth place in the Premiership after a heavy defeat at home to Crusaders.

Colin Coates headed in the first goal in the 29th minute from Chris Morrow's free-kick into the box.

The Crues skipper made it 2-0 after the break, stooping to head in from another Morrow free.

A great strike by Jordan Owens made it 3-0 before Coates had a chance to complete a hat-trick only to see his penalty saved by keeper Elliott Morris.

"I am happy to get the two goals and for the team to pick up three points, but I am disappointed to have missed the penalty," said Coates.

"As a centre-half, it is not often you get a chance to score a hat-trick and unfortunately I missed it.

"Our results have not been great and we need to get back into the mix at the top end of the table. I think we were ninth before today.

"We need to turn draws into wins."
