St Johnstone: Manager concerned for injured Steven Anderson

Manager Tommy Wright was pleased at St Johnstone's comeback against Partick Thistle and hopes his defender Steven Anderson can recover quickly too.

Anderson slipped and suffered a painful hand injury as Kris Doolan raced in for Thistle's sixth-minute opener.

"He's had to go to hospital and he may need an operation on his hand. We're hoping it's only a dislocation," said Saint boss Wright.

"Dislocation would mean a few weeks out but a break could be about six weeks."

Gary Miller came on to replace the stricken Anderson and his performance partly consoled the manager, who saw his team level through Steven MacLean just before half-time.

While Wright was happy that his team had drawn level, he felt they were worthy of all three points from the Scottish Premiership encounter.

"I look at it as two points lost. I thought we did enough to win the game," he said.

"It was a poor goal that we gave away and we lost Steven in the incident as well.

"We started the game well but the goal changes it and gives them a lift. That was almost their first foray forward.

"I think we created enough chances, particularly in the second half where we worked [Thistle goalkeeper] Paul Gallacher quite a bit, but we just didn't have that killer touch to kill the game off.

"In the second half we spent a lot more time in their half and we did create a lot of chances.

"It was a good performance but I don't think we got the result that the performance deserved."

The draw follows two home wins and a home defeat in the league. St Johnstone are eighth in the table on nine points, only a point behind the visitors, Partick Thistle.

Wright added: "We've been really strong at home but since the last time we played at home there has been improvement and if we perform like that the wins at home will come.

"It was the same last season - the teams are very even. There's not a lot between them.

"We know it's a long season and there will be dips. You can quite easily go three or four on the bounce winning or without winning.

"That's the kind of league it is but we would like some consistency in our performances."
