Thistle players disappointed with point at St Johnstone

Manager Alan Archibald reckons the 1-1 draw from Partick Thistle's match at St Johnstone was just about right but says his players were looking for more.

"We thought we could have snatched it but so could they so a draw is maybe a fair result," said the Jags boss.

"It's a good point. The boys are quite disappointed. They thought they had done enough to win it.

"It shows you how far we have come that we're disappointed with a point in Perth. It's a difficult place to come."

Thistle sit in mid-table in the Scottish Premiership, level on points with sixth-placed Dundee United.

Archibald maintains that his team's priority is simply to avoid relegation in their first season on their return to the top tier.

They are 17 points ahead of bottom-club Hearts, who suffered a 15-point penalty for entering administration.

"The aim is to get as many points on the board as we can by Christmas," said Archibald.

"The boys have done well. We've got a tough run. We've got Hibs up next and then we go to Inverness.

"I think the boys have adapted very well. Just one thing we are struggling to do is put the ball in the net.

"Thankfully we got a half chance today and Doolan took it very well. I thought he was outstanding.

"We've dominated a lot of games and haven't got that second goal, or the first goal.

"I felt we dominated for the first 30 minutes. I think St Johnstone changed their shape and they came back into it for the last 10-15 minutes of the half."
