2014 World Cup: Fifa confirms GoalControl technology to be used

Fifa has confirmed that German-based manufacturer GoalControl will be the official provider of goal-line technology for the 2014 World Cup.
The system won a tender in April to provide the technology for the World Cup in Brazil providing it passed evaluation at the Confederations Cup.
The governing body has now confirmed it will be used subject to a final installation test in each stadium.
Additionally, tests will be made by the match officials prior to each game.
The GoalControl-4D system confirms whether a goal has been scored using 14 high-speed cameras around the pitch.
The referee is notified within one second by a vibration and visual signal on a watch.
Although there were no controversial goal-line decisions during the Confederations Cup, Fifa revealed the GoalControl-4D system indicated all 68 of the tournament's goals correctly.
British-based Hawk-Eye was one of four firms that had bid for the tender.
