Peterborough United: Fans 'disrespectful' - Darren Ferguson

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson believes the club's supporters "disrespect" League One and do not give his players the praise they deserve.

Posh have won 10 of their first 12 league games this season, and are only a point behind leaders Leyton Orient.

But Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire he was not happy with the feeling around London Road during Saturday's 1-0 win over Shrewsbury.

"I think our fans are quite disrespectful to the league," he said.

Ferguson continued: "I didn't like the atmosphere, I think our fans think we are going to win 6-0 every game. It's impossible to do that.

"I remember the two times we got out of this league everyone was absolutely delirious, and I don't see why it should be any different now.

"I don't think my players get anywhere near enough credit. We've won 10 games out of 12, and everyone is talking about Leyton Orient, quite rightly because they've made an outstanding start to the season, and we're a point behind them.

"I feel this is a really tough league, to get 10 wins out of 12 is some achievement, and people need to recognise that. We've only dropped five points and we've won six [games] on the bounce."

Peterborough have also kept four consecutive clean sheets and Ferguson paid tribute to his defence.

"My two centre-halves are very solid. Defensively we have good experience and we have good cover too, so I'm not surprised.

"But we have to get things into perspective. No-one goes out and wins games [by] four and five. We have no divine right to get out of the league, but we have a really good group of players who know how to win games - and we don't get enough credit for that."
