Steve Burr: Forest Green approach Kidderminster Harriers boss

Kidderminster have given boss Steve Burr permission to speak to Conference rivals Forest Green Rovers over their managerial vacancy.

Rovers parted company with Dave Hockaday on 21 October and interim manager Gary Seward also left the New Lawn club this week.

They had initially approached Gateshead boss Gary Mills about the role, but their advances were rejected.

Burr, 50, has been in charge at Aggborough since 2010.

He led Kidderminster to a second-place finish in the league last season, two points behind winners Mansfield, but were beaten by Wrexham in the play-off semi-finals.

They are currently second in the standings, unbeaten in their last six games.

A statement on the Harriers website read: "Steve Burr has been kept fully aware of the situation at all times and has expressed an interest in meeting with Rovers officials to discuss the post and, as such, the club have reluctantly granted him permission to do so.

"Until we discover the outcome of those discussions we will make no further comment on the matter."

Hockaday's four-year tenure at Forest Green came to an end after a run of seven defeats in eight games.

Academy manager Scott Bartlett is in charge of the first team until a permanent replacement is found.
