Walsall 0-2 Port Vale

  • Published

Goals in each half from Tom Pope and Gavin Tomlin gave Port Vale their first win at Walsall in 66 years.

The Valiants had not won a league game at their Midlands rivals since 1947, but Pope set them on their way as he drove in from Adam Yates's low cross.

Chris Lines's goal was disallowed for Vale before Tomlin swivelled and fired into the roof of the net.

Romaine Sawyers had Walsall's best chance but his fierce shot was deflected wide.
