Dundee United's Jackie McNamara hails Scottish Cup win

Jackie McNamara praised his Dundee United side following their Scottish Cup victory over Kilmarnock.

United took the lead before recovering from 2-1 down at Tannadice to win 5-2 in a thrilling fourth-round tie.

"I'll give Kilmarnock credit, they came back into it," McNamara told BBC Scotland.

"But credit to the boys, similar to the Partick game, we got back in it again and scored some great goals."

Full-back Andy Robertson fired United in front but they were pegged back by Kilmarnock through goals by Darren Barr and Chris Johnston.

However, in-form United came roaring back, Stuart Armstrong equalising before Robertson, Brian Graham and Gary Mackay-Steven secured a comprehensive victory.

"To see my left-back scoring two goals again, that's four in the last three, they just have that willingness to keep going," said McNamara.

"We lost our discipline a little bit but credit to the lads for their work-rate as they're getting their just rewards.

"Nadir Ciftci's injury looks like a bad one and he could be out for a few weeks."

And, on Ryan Gauld's display against Kilmarnock, McNamara added: "I could see yesterday that he wasn't quite himself but he still has an influence on the match when he's not at his best.

"You can see they tried to set up to stop him and man-mark him. I'm delighted and delighted with the turnout of the fans, they were fantastic tonight.

"Even when we went down 2-1 they were still pushing us; it's a real bonus to me and the players to have that backing. Long may it continue."
