Joe Lolley: Kidderminster Harriers will only sell if deal is 'right'

Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr admits that they may have to sell striker Joe Lolley if any prospective deal was "right for everybody".

Lolley, 21, signed this summer from Midland Combination side Littleton, has been linked with a move to Football League clubs Millwall and Peterborough.

"We don't want to lose any players," Burr told BBC Hereford & Worcester. "We want to get out of this division,"

"But this sort of decision will be made only if it is right for everybody."

Joint top scorer Lolley has netted seven times in 19 appearances this season, six of them as substitute, since his summer arrival after arriving from Evesham-based Littleton.

"From where he came to where he is now, he's certainly had a big impact and made a name for himself," added Burr.

"I've had calls from one or two Championship managers.

"We've got some talented young players here, Chey Dunkley and Mickey Demetriou too. That's why we get a lot of scouts coming down to watch them.

"Joe is still learning the game. But, when you're a striker, you're scoring and creating headlines, it leads to even more interest. And we can't stand in people's way."

Speculation is increasing in the run-up to the reopening of the transfer window on 1 January, just three days before Harriers are due to host Peterborough in the third round of the FA Cup.

But Burr does have the safety blanket of three other strikers to choose from in Michael Gash, Amari Morgan-Smith and last season's leading marksman, Anthony Malbon.

And the Harriers boss can feel further comforted by the fact that when they faced a similar situation a year ago, when Jamille Matt went to Fleetwood for a club record £300,000, they actually improved and almost went on to win promotion.

"It was disappointing to see Jamille Matt go." said Burr. "But the main thing was that we did not suffer.

"Our form when he went was very good. In fact, it was unbelievable."
