Rangers midfielder Barrie McKay has joined Championship strugglers Morton on a one-month loan deal.

And former Ibrox defender Darren Cole has signed on for the Greenock side until the end of the season.

Rangers terminated Cole's contract in August after the 21-year-old was widely reported to have failed to show up for a reserve team fixture.

McKay, who turns 19 on Monday, played 39 games last season but has not featured for Rangers since September.

Morton prop up the league with just nine points and this week new manager Kenny Shiels took the decision to release experienced duo Nacho Novo and Mark McLaughlin.

Cole made his Rangers debut in a Champions League draw away to Turkish side Bursaspor in December 2010 but only managed four appearances last season.
