England full-back Alex Scott has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal Ladies.

The 29-year-old was a product of the Ladies academy and returned to the club in March 2012 following a spell in the United States.

Arsenal Ladies general manager Vic Akers said: "It's great news for the club that Alex has decided to commit her future to Arsenal.

"She's a top player, and extremely experienced, so we're very pleased."

Scott, who has been capped 105 times by England and represented Team GB at London 2012, added: "I'm very pleased to have agreed a new contact with Arsenal.

"I first joined the club when I was a teenager, so it feels like home to me. We've lost some players this pre-season, but we've signed some very capable ones too, so we're feeling good about the new campaign and can't wait for it to get under way."
