Damon Lathrope: Torquay United recall on-loan Hereford midfielder

Hereford United midfielder Damon Lathrope has been recalled from loan by his parent club Torquay United.

The 24-year-old has only twice been on the losing side in eight games since Hereford fans helped to fund his initial month's loan move from Plainmoor to Edgar Street in November.

But he has been called back by the League Two strugglers following the sacking of manager Alan Knill.

Lathrope is in line to play for Torquay in their home game against Morecambe.

Hereford could again be without a game on Saturday, as their Conference Premier game at Woking is subject to a pitch inspection on Saturday morning.

That would be the Bulls' second successive postponement, following the loss of their New Year's Day return derby game with Kidderminster Harriers at Edgar Street.

The postponement of the Harriers game ensured that the Bulls fell short of the £35,000 fundraising target they had set to meet the club's December wage bill.

Contributions from fans, including online donations from Denmark, and from fans of Oxford United, Cheltenham Town, Shrewsbury Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Mansfield Town and Brentford, raised £20,000.

This ensured that the players have been paid in full, but the club's remaining staff are still owed half of their December salaries.
