Lionel Ainsworth: Rotherham winger extends Motherwell stay

Motherwell have extended the loan deal of Rotherham winger Lionel Ainsworth until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old arrived at Fir Park in August and has scored in each of Motherwell's last four games.

On Wednesday, Ainsworth had said: "I love this club. Everything they have done for me has been top class - even little stuff right down to the kit-man and the office staff.

"I've led a bit of a nomadic existence and have always wanted to settle down."

Motherwell is Ainsworth's 13th club in a career that began with Derby County. His current contract with Rotherham United expires at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, 'Well manager Stuart McCall is hopeful the club can sign Estonian striker Henri Anier on a permanent basis.

Anier has scored seven times on loan from Norwegian side Viking Stavanger but is due to return to his parent club later this month.

McCall said: "Leeann [Dempster - chief executive] is in talks with both Viking and Henri's agent and if it was a straightforward thing of just keeping him on loan again, it wouldn't be a problem.

"But I think Viking are looking to say we can take him but obviously at the moment we're only paying a part of his wage, whereas if we were to take him long-term we'd have to pay all his wages.

"That's where the stumbling point comes. Henri's desperate to stay, I had a good chat with him yesterday, he feels settled."
