Transfer window: Bristol City sign Tyrone Barnett from Peterborough

Bristol City have signed Peterborough United striker Tyrone Barnett on loan until the end of the season.

He has been on the transfer list since a breach of club discipline in November 2012 and had a loan spell at Ipswich last season, which was ended by injury.

The 28-year-old has scored seven times in 26 appearances in all competitions for Posh this term.

"Hopefully I can get my form up to where it was at the beginning of the season," he told BBC Radio Bristol.

"I've been dying to get down to Bristol, and I'm glad I'm here. Now, I can roll my sleeves up."

The former Macclesfield striker joined Peterborough from Crawley Town for a then club record fee of more than £1 million in February 2012.

However, his focus now is to finish the season strongly alongside City's leading scorers Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Sam Baldock, who have 18 and 12 goals respectively.

"The long-term plan at the moment is quite short, and that is the next six months," Barnett said.

"I'm looking to get fit and play as many games and get as many goals I can - that is where my head is at the moment.

"I've seen what the lads can do here, I've been keeping an eye on them these last couple of weeks and hopefully I can add to the goals."

City have had a resurgence of form under manager Steve Cotterill, losing only one of his six games in charge, but they still sit 17 places and 25 points adrift of Peterborough in the League One table - City lying in 22nd and the Posh in fifth.

"I didn't look at the position in the table - it was more to do with the club, the manager and the players," Barnett added.
