Port Vale have made their first signing of the January transfer window by bringing in teenage defender Jack Grimmer on a month's loan from Fulham.

The 19-year-old Scotland youth international joined Fulham two years ago for £200,000 from Aberdeen.

But, although he has played at right-back and in midfield for Fulham Under-21s, he has not made the first team.

Grimmer goes straight into the squad for Saturday's match against League One leaders Brentford at Griffin Park.

Vale boss Micky Adams has also added defender Joe Davis to his squad after he returned from his loan at Luton Town.

"Jack Grimmer is a player who we have watched on numerous occasions for Fulham reserves," said Adams.

"We have a lot of experienced defenders making mistakes and we have been looking to strengthen in that area for a while."
