Banton keen to 'settle down' at Argyle

Plymouth Argyle have signed midfielder Jason Banton from Premier League side Crystal Palace on an 18-month deal.

The 21-year-old will return to Home Park after a successful spell on loan last season, where he scored six goals in 14 matches for the Pilgrims.

Banton made only one substitute appearance for Palace, and spent the first half of the season on loan at League One side MK Dons.

"Glad to [have] finally signed for Argyle," Banton said on Twitter., external

"I had options elsewhere but I felt this was the perfect place for me to kick on.

"It's a great club with great players and coaching staff and the fans are incredible - can't wait to get started!"

Banton will go straight into the squad for Saturday's game against Southend.

But the Pilgrims did suffer a blow to their attacking options, with on-loan striker Caolan Lavery recalled to parent club Sheffield Wednesday.

Argyle had extended Lavery's loan period by an additional month after the Northern Ireland Under-21 international scored three goals in four starts.
