Ross County left incensed by Jim Goodwin despite win

Derek Adams was sent to the stand along with Danny Lennon during Ross County's 2-1 win over St Mirren

Ross County boss Derek Adams expressed his frustration with St Mirren captain Jim Goodwin following the Dingwall side's 2-1 win over St Mirren.

Adams and counterpart Danny Lennon were both sent to the stand following a fiery clash, with Goodwin twice infuriating the Victoria Park boss.

"He's incensed our players," Adams told BBC Scotland. "It's been a difficult match but it's plain to see.

"I don't have to say anything because it's there on the television pictures."

The St Mirren captain upset the home dugout in the first half when he appeared to catch Filip Kiss with an arm, leaving the Slovak requiring treatment.

Adams then felt Goodwin was at fault when he clashed heads with Melvin De Leeuw, leading to an angry exchange on the touchline with Lennon that prompted referee Willie Collum to send both managers to the stand.

Earlier this season, Adams suggested Goodwin was immune to being punished by referees after watching his side lose 2-1 in Paisley.

"I've spoken about it before and I've made my thoughts known," explained Adams. "I've said my piece and I feel the television pictures will tell the whole story."

The result in Dingwall helped Ross County leapfrog St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership table, moving them out of the play-off zone with Yoann Arquin and De Leeuw netting either side of John McGinn's counter.

"[It was] an excellent performance from us, we were brilliant from start to finish," added Adams.

"We passed the ball really well, the amount of chances we created over the 90 minutes was outstanding. We could have won by a lot more goals but it was a terrific display from the players.

"They've obviously scored with their first shot on target and that was disappointing from our point of view but take nothing away from it, it's a very good win following on from a great start to the new year."
