Lewis Young: Bury sign former Aldershot and Yeovil winger

Bury have signed former Yeovil, Northampton and Burton winger Lewis Young until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old failed to score in 15 games during a short-term deal at non-league Aldershot earlier this term.

Young, who is the brother of Manchester United and England winger Ashley, joins as a free agent after training with the Shakers in recent weeks.

"Lewis has just found himself at the right place at the right time," said Bury boss David Flitcroft.

"When we lost Temitope Obadeyi to Plymouth, we lost that unpredictable edge and pace and Lewis represents that because he does have some real pace about him.

"He is good at making the correct decisions in the final third of the pitch and that is something that I want in my side."

The former Watford trainee, released by the Yeovil at the start of the season after making 17 appearances last term, has also had loan spells at Hereford and Forest Green.

After watching his new team-mates in Tuesday's 4-1 win at Mansfield, Young is available to face Cheltenham on Saturday.

"He came to Mansfield with us and watched the game," added Flitcroft. "He knows we play the right kind of football for him.

"He's not the finished product yet. That's why it's important for him to come to the right club and he knows that. As a management team we believe we can get the best out of him and we will put him in a happy place."
