Wrexham: Andy Bishop dismissal 'harsh' says interim boss Billy Barr

Wrexham caretaker manager Billy Barr believes striker Andy Bishop's sending off against Kidderminster Harriers was a harsh decision.

Bishop was sent-off after picking up two yellow cards in the goalless draw against Harriers on Saturday.

The 31-year-old will serve a one match ban and will miss Tuesday's Conference Premier match away to Braintree Town.

"I feel sorry for him, I really do," Barr said.

Bishop, who had been sent-off at Kidderminster in November, was shown a second yellow card with 12 minutes left following a foul on Callum Gittings.

Barr, in temporary charge since Andy Morrell's departure, said he would seek clarification from referee Peter Banks over his decision to dismiss Bishop.

"It's a very, very harsh one," Barr added.

"I've looked at them and just think 'how are they yellow cards?'

"Because if you're going to book Bish for both of them then there's other things that go on that don't get bookings.

"I'm baffled by it and am definitely going to speak to the referee on it to get his view.

"I just want to find out what he thinks of both bookings."

Wrexham will also be without midfielder Joe Clarke again for the trip to Braintree because of a knee injury.

Fellow midfielder Rob Evans is also sidelined with a knee problem and Barr will promote youth team players to the bench.
