Bournemouth midfielder Eunan O'Kane has signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2017.

O'Kane joined the club from Torquay in July 2012 and was a key member of the side that won promotion to the Championship last season.

The 23-year-old made 41 appearances last term and 27 this season and has scored five times.

"I'm over the moon with it," O'Kane told the club website.

"I'm here for the foreseeable future, there was never any doubt in my mind that I would sign."

The former Everton trainee added: "It's been a big step in my football career.

"To come from League Two and gain promotion to the Championship shows the club is going in the right direction and going in the direction I want to go in. Hopefully we can continue to progress.

"I still have ambition to play at a higher level again. At the minute I am learning my trade in the Championship and want to progress and that mirrors what the club are trying to do and the path they want to take so it makes sense for me to commit my future here."
