Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has signed a new four-year contract.

The 27-year-old Denmark international, who joined the Foxes in 2011, had been in talks since the latter part of the season and agreed terms last month.

Schmeichel played every minute of the league campaign, conceding just 43 goals as City romped to the title.

He told the club website: , external"Leicester has felt like home since I arrived three years ago. I can't wait to play for this club in the Premier League."

Schmeichel has also played for Manchester City, Notts County and Leeds United. He has played 156 games for Leicester and made more than 300 career appearances in total.

Manager Nigel Pearson said: "I'm delighted. It's terrific news and fully deserved recognition for his application and consistency, certainly during my time here.

"Kasper has been as driven as anyone to help take this club back to the Premier League and now that we have achieved that, he fully deserves the opportunity to play at that level.

"A player of his quality will have had a number of options available to him, but he wants to remain part of what we're doing at Leicester, which says a lot for where we're going."
