Preston North End have signed Leyton Orient goalkeeper Jamie Jones following his decision to turn down the offer of a new contract at Brisbane Road.

The 25-year-old Everton Academy product has agreed a two-deal deal at Deepdale.

Jones, who had made 179 appearances in six years for Orient, will officially become a North End player on 1 July.

Preston's first-choice keeper last season was Declan Rudd, but he has returned to Norwich City following his season-long loan at Deepdale.

Both sides were beaten by Rotherham United in the League One play-offs after Orient finished third in the table, with North End fifth.

Jones is boss Simon Grayson's first signing of the summer following his side's play-off semi-final exit three weeks ago.

Grayson has plenty of gaps in his squad after offloading eight out-of-contract players.

"Jamie has had two good years at Orient, being at the top end of the division, being very consistent and he is still young with lots of improving still to be done," he told the club website., external
