Matt Fryatt: Nottingham Forest move was a 'long time coming'

Matt Fryatt's last match for Hull City was their FA Cup final loss to Arsenal

Nottingham Forest striker Matt Fryatt said his transfer to the City Ground was nearly a decade in the making.

The 28-year-old was first linked to a move to the City ground under then Reds manager Gary Megson in 2005.

Instead, he went from Walsall to Leicester City before eventually arriving at Forest last month from Hull City as Stuart Pearce's first signing.

"It's been a long time coming. I'm glad it has finally arrived and I'm here now," Fryatt told BBC Radio Nottingham.

Fryatt scored 63 goals in 191 games for Leicester before signing for Hull in January 2011 for £1.2m.

After making 27 appearances last season, including a nine-game loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday, Fryatt is looking forward to finally being a Forest player.

"There were obviously a few managers since Gary left but it did first start when I was at Walsall before the Leicester move," he said.

"Coming down here was pretty straightforward, I didn't need too much convincing.

"Looking at it from afar in terms of what players are already here, it looks a really good team."
