Midfielder Stuart Holden is set to return to Bolton Wanderers to continue his recovery from a knee injury.

Holden, 28, suffered a third serious knee injury during the USA's Gold Cup Final win over Panama in July 2013.

His comeback in a reserve game against Everton in March lasted 23 minutes.

Despite being officially out of contract, the American will continue his rehabilitation at the club and he will be eligible for any friendly, under-21 or development squad games.

Holden previously played at Houston Dynamos, making 88 appearances before joining Bolton in 2010.

He has played 38 games for the club, scoring twice.
