Gary Roberts scored his first goal of the season to give Chesterfield all three points

Gary Roberts made one goal and scored the other as Chesterfield earned a deserved victory at Port Vale.

The visitors took the lead when Eoin Doyle kneed in the rebound after Roberts' shot had came back off a post.

The hosts levelled when Mark Marshall smashed a drive high inside keeper Tommy Lee's left-hand post.

Roberts curled home a left-foot shot in off the post to restore Chesterfield's lead before the visitors had Ian Evatt sent off late on for two bookings.
