Striker Cole Stockton has signed a new long-term deal with Tranmere Rovers.

Stockton was under contract at the League Two club until the end of the season but has now agreed to stay at Prenton Park until the summer of 2017.

The 20-year-old has scored 10 goals in 68 outings for Tranmere, having come through the club's youth system.

"Cole has impressed me over the last couple of months. He's a talented young footballer with loads of potential," said manager Rob Edwards.

"He's got a hammer of a right foot which will get us goals, but we're trying to add more things to his game too," Edwards told the club website., external

"If he continues to apply himself and show the right attitude, he's got a bright future ahead of him in the game and at this club."

Stockton added: "I was really pleased the club offered me a new contract and couldn't wait to sign."
