Arsene Wenger signed £42.5m Mesut Ozil in last season's summer transfer window

Arsene Wenger believes transfer deadline day is like a "poker game", as he seeks to add to the Arsenal squad before the window closes on Monday.

The Gunners boss says many clubs bluff during the final days of business.

"I will be actively involved on the final day of the window and I will be on alert until the last minute of transfer deadline day," he said.

"Many clubs are on the market and everybody knows each other. The last few days are a poker game."

Wenger splashed out £42.5m this time last year on Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil and says they are always prepared to spend on the right player.

But he added: "There's a lot of lies there in the few days, everybody is interested in the same player even if you're the only one who wants the player."

Olivier Giroud broke his leg minutes after equalising against Everton last Saturday

Wenger, whose team travel to promoted Leicester City on Sunday, says he has enough striking options to cover for Olivier Giroud who has had surgery on a broken leg.

The French striker was top-scorer last season with 22 goals and is expected to be out for four months.

Wenger said: "If I give you the number of strikers I have at the moment, it's absolutely unbelievable.

"We have (Yaya) Sanogo, (Alexis) Sanchez, we have (Theo) Walcott, we have (Lukas) Podolski, we have Giroud who will come back during the season and I forget maybe one or two. (Joel) Campbell can play centre forward as well.

"The success of a season doesn't depend on one player that you buy or not. I think you do it when you think it strengthens your squad. If you find the right player you want to do it. We have shown in the last two seasons, when we think money has to be spent we do it."
