Jake Kean: Yeovil manager Gary Johnson's faith key to signing

Kean earned his first Premier League start against Chelsea in May 2012

Jake Kean says Yeovil manager Gary Johnson's admiration for him played a large part in him joining the League One side on loan.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper is set to start against Crewe on Tuesday, having joined from Blackburn for one month.

"The manager said he saw me play when I was on loan at Hartlepool and has been wanting to work with me for a while," Kean told BBC Somerset.

"That helped me decide that Yeovil was the right team to come and play for."

Kean has experienced playing in the Premier League and Championship while at Rovers, and was their number one for the first part of last season before Paul Robinson returned from injury.

Loan spells with Hartlepool and Rochdale have also given the keeper prior knowledge of League One football.

"I am a 23-year-old goalkeeper who has played quite a bit in League One and the Championship," he added. "I wouldn't say I know everything about it, but at least it is not something completely new to me.

"I have some understanding of what the league is about and what it takes to win games and hopefully push on in the league.

"I have seen clips of the lads play and I know what the manager wants so it shouldn't be that much of a difficult task slotting in.

"Hopefully I will not have anything to do, the lads in front will be fantastic and I will be forgotten about because we have won two or 3-0."
