Febian Brandy: Crewe sign Rotherham United striker on loan

Crewe Alexandra have signed Rotherham United striker Febian Brandy on a one-month emergency loan deal.

Brandy, 25, has played one game since joining the Championship club in June after his release by Sheffield United.

But Millers boss Steve Evans said: "I would like to make it clear that in my opinion this young man still has a bright future at the New York Stadium.

"He needs a run of matches at first-team level to prepare him for the demands of the Championship."

The arrival of former Walsall striker Brandy, who started at Manchester United, is part of a recruitment drive by League One's bottom club which has continued on the loan front since the summer transfer window closed on 1 September.

"We have deliberately gone for a better standard of player to improve us," Davis told BBC Radio Stoke. "When you do that there are going to be other clubs in for them. The competition increases and some of the other clubs can pay more and can be more attractive.

"The board wanted to strengthen the squad and are happy to back me."

The Alex picked up their fourth point in two games when they drew 1-1 at Yeovil on Tuesday night, after Davis's decision to leave two of his more senior players behind - midfielder Brad Inman and defender Lee Molyneux.

"Brad came on for the final 20 minutes against Port Vale on Saturday and didn't do as well as I wanted him to," said Davis.

"So I decided to bring in James Jones, who has a fantastic attitude and works very hard. We decided not to bring him or Lee and we explained the situation to them both."
