Portadown ease to a 4-0 victory over Institute at Drumahoe

Portadown returned to the top of the Irish Premiership with an emphatic win away to Institute.

Tim Mouncey headed in a fifth-minute opener and Peter McMahon quickly added number two with a fine left-foot volley from just outside the box.

McMahon scored again, latching on to Sean Mackle's ball to sweep a first-time finish past keeper Eugene Ferry.

Gary Twigg made it 4-0 for the dominant Ports from Chris Casement's cross early in the second half.

It leaves Portadown level on 21 points with Linfield and Ronnie McFall's men have the better goal difference.

"We got the perfect start and our three early goals killed the game," said winning boss McFall.

"We played with a real intensity which had been lacking last week.

"It is not the easiest place to come. We played some excellent football and I cannot fault anyone."
