Northern Ireland will play Romania at the Arena Nationala in Bucharest

Northern Ireland fans will be able to attend the Euro 2016 qualifier away to Romania, it has been revealed.

There had been a chance Uefa would order the Bucharest game to be played in an empty stadium after trouble during Romania's match against Hungary.

However, the governing body ordered only a partial stadium closure.

The news will be a relief to those Northern Ireland fans who had booked travel and accommodation for the 14 November match at the Arena Nationala.

The Irish FA said tickets for the game would go on sale through its website on Monday, subject to the confirmation of their allocation from the Romania Football Federation.

There is increased interest in the game as Northern Ireland have made a brilliant start to their campaign to reach the finals which are being staged in France.

Michael O'Neill's men have won their three opening fixtures, sparking hopes that Northern Ireland could achieve Euro qualification for the first time.

Irish FA president Jim Shaw spoke of his relief following Friday's Uefa judgement.

"It would have been a disaster if our supporters couldn't have attended this vital game," the Irish FA president told BBC Sport Northern Ireland.

"I was always fairly confident it would go down this particular route but I couldn't say anything until the committee had made the final decision."

Northern Ireland are top of Pool F with Romania just two points behind in second place.

The crowd problems in Bucharest happened during the 1-1 draw against Hungary on 11 October and both their federations have been fined £25,000 by Uefa.

Romania were cited for crowd disturbances, the setting off and throwing of fireworks and missiles and the use of laser pointers.

In addition to the fine, the Romanian authorities will have to partially close their stadium on 14 November but this will not affect Northern Ireland's fans.

The Hungarian federation, whose fans were found guilty of racist behaviour, throwing fireworks and missiles and destroying seats to throw on the pitch, must also partially close their stadium for their next qualifier against Finland.
