Celtic or Rangers move 'ultimate goal' for Gregory Tade

CFR Cluj striker Gregory Tade is not closed to the idea of returning to play in Scotland in the future.

But the Frenchman, who left St Johnstone in 2013, reckons only a move to Celtic or Rangers would tempt him.

"Maybe one day I can go and play for one of the Old Firm," Tade told BBC Scotland. "That would be the ultimate goal if I was to come back.

"I consider Scotland my home. I've got my house there and my kid was born there."

Tade signed a three-year contract in Transylvania after a playing career in Scotland with Forfar Athletic, Clyde, Stranraer, Raith Rovers and Inverness Caledonian Thistle before moving to McDiarmid Park.

After an uninspiring first season in Romania, the 28-year-old has been in blistering form during this campaign, netting nine goals in nine appearances.

Two of those were against Celtic's Europa League opponents, Astra Giurgiu.

"Things are going quite well," said Tade. "I've been playing quite often, scoring goals and the team's been doing great. Things are looking up compared to last season when I wasn't playing much.

"It's always good to see something else. I was at the stage in my career in Scotland where I spent so much time in all the divisions.

"I've played in every ground in Scotland and I think it was the right time for me to leave. I had spent one year in the SPL with Inverness and played fairly well.

"I wanted to prove that it was not a fluke and I proved I could be a good striker when we finished third with St Johnstone. So I don't think I could've finished on a bigger note."

Despite being based in central Europe these days, Tade says he maintains connections with many of the team-mates and contacts he made while in Scotland.

"I follow people on social media," he added. "Sometimes I hear from Midgey Millar (Chris Millar) to get some news.

"I stay in touch with John McGlynn (ex-Raith Rovers manager) when I can. I keep a close eye on what they're doing."
