Bruno Ecuele Manga and Ravel Morrison are doubts for Cardiff's Championship game at Birmingham City on Saturday.
Gabon defender Manga injured a calf in Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Bolton.
West Ham loanee Morrison, a second-half substitute at the Macron Stadium, is doubtful with a knee problem.
Manager Russell Slade said centre-back Ben Turner, an unused substitute against Bolton, is in contention for a first appearance of the campaign after an ankle injury in pre-season.
Admitting he is considering changes, Slade said: "It's been on my mind I've been looking over the last 48 hours at what I may be able to do to give us an edge,"
Slade played down speculation that Norwegian midfielder Mats Moller Daehli could be sold in January.
The Cardiff boss said Daehli had been troubled by a hip injury which they are trying to resolve.
But Slade confirmed that Cardiff would look to offload Daehli's fellow countryman Magnus Wolff Eikrem in the transfer window - with either a sale or a loan.
