Partick Thistle can target a move up the Scottish Premiership table after their 1-0 win over St Mirren, according to manager Alan Archibald.

The victory lifts Thistle seven points clear of the second-bottom Buddies.

"We had to pick the boys up from last week," Archbald told BBC Scotland. "They were sore after losing the last-minute goal against Hamilton.

"But it is great victory and we've said to the lads they can look up now and hopefully the three points do that."

Christie Elliott scored the only goal of the game in Paisley after 75 minutes and the Thistle boss admitted there was little between the teams on a horrible, wet day.

"I think the conditions ruined it a wee bit," said Archibald. "From our point of view, we didn't play as well as we could - certainly in the first half.

"We started brightly enough, but I thought we fell out the game in the first half.

"I thought we were a lot better in the second half. We were up in the game and we were far more of a threat in the final third.

"We've played better than that and lost this season, so we'll take the three points.

"I thought we edged the second half and we got a good goal at a good time."
