Ben Alnwick has not missed a minute of football this season

Peterborough United keeper Ben Alnwick believes an open discussion among their players will help improve results.

Posh have lost their last three League One games, but beat Carlisle in Saturday's FA Cup first round tie.

"Although we've got young players, we have a lot of characters, a lot of peoples who will speak up," Alnwick, 27, told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"We've sat down together and spoken about what we expect and need out of each other. It's now time to kick on."

Alnwick was the oldest player in Posh's starting line-up at the weekend, and the former Leyton Orient keeper has played every game since joining Darren Ferguson's side in the summer.

Peterborough led the division after winning five of their first six games of the season, and were in the top two only three weeks ago, but defeats by Crewe, Coventry City and Scunthorpe United have seen them drop to seventh in the table.

"It's not the time for people to shy away, it's time to step up," said Alnwick.

"It's natural with a young squad when you lose a few games you might lose a bit of confidence. But now we have that win in he FA Cup I think it will be the total opposite."
