MK Dons moved up to fourth place in League One thanks to Carl Baker's early goal against 10-man Port Vale.

The only goal of the game came in the third minute when Baker's right-footed shot from the edge of the area found the left corner of Chris Neal's goal.

Vale's task was made tougher when Chris Lines was shown red for head-butting Dele Alli just before half-time.

Benik Afobe headed wide and Daniel Powell saw his effort saved by Neal as the Dons searched for a second goal.

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"There were some good performances, there were some not so good performances today. We just accept that and move on.

"Carl Baker is a good player. We brought him in because he's a very good player. What I like about him is he goes forward. He's not fit, he's still got an awful lot to do.

"Our players have been magnificent. Because they care, they really do care. Hopefully we can utilise this and move forward."
