Premier League predictions: Lawro v Marco Polo star Benedict Wong

BBC Sport expert Mark Lawrenson

BBC Sport's football expert Mark Lawrenson is pitting his wits against a different guest each week this season.

Lawro's opponent for this weekend's Premier League fixtures is actor Benedict Wong, who plays Mongol ruler Kublai Khan in Netflix's new TV adventure series Marco Polo.

Eccles-born Wong grew up in Salford supporting Manchester United and says his favourite players were Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.

"They were the two players in midfield that drove the team to so much success," he told BBC Sport.

These days, Wong enjoys watching United's all-star attack but feels the rest of the team needs some strengthening before they can think about challenging for the title again.

"Christmas is coming up so I have written to Santa and asked for a few more defenders," he added. "Get it right there and we might have it all.

"Can we push for the title this season? No, let's just get third place and get back in the Champions League. Then we can push on from there."

You can see all of Wong's predictions on Football Focus at 12:10 GMT on Saturday on BBC One and the BBC Sport website.

A correct result (picking a win, draw or defeat) is worth ONE point. Getting the exact score correct earns THREE points.

Last week, Lawro got four correct results from 10 games, with no perfect scores.

But his score of four points was beaten by former British tennis number one Tim Henman, who also picked four correct results, but with two perfect scores to give him a total of eight points.

We are keeping a record of the totals for Lawro and his guests (below), and showing a table of how the Premier League would look if all of Lawro's predictions were correct (at the bottom of the page).
