Chelsea have further strengthened their squad by signing Doncaster Belles midfielder Millie Bright.

The 21-year-old was on the shortlist for the Women's Super League 2 Player of the Year award last season.

She has represented England up to Under-23 level and trained with the senior squad earlier this year.

"I wanted to be back in FA WSL1 and to be here with so many great role models and players is fantastic," Bright told the Chelsea website., external

"The standard was good in FA WSL 2 last season but I felt I needed the step up to move my career forward and I am excited to get going now."

Chelsea missed out on the Super League title to Liverpool on goal difference only last season.

Last month they signed England winger Gemma Davison from the Reds and assistant boss Paul Green said they were looking to Bright, who can also play in defence, to add "strength and physicality" to the squad.

He signed Bright during his time at Doncaster and added: "I'm sure she will prove to be a good addition to this talented group of players as we look to build on last season's achievements."

Swedish defender Emma Wilhelmsson, meanwhile, has left the club after only 11 months.
