Chris Moyses: Lincoln City given reality check in FA Trophy

Lincoln City boss Chris Moyses says their first round FA Trophy exit was as a timely wake-up call for his side.

The 2-0 loss against Alfreton was their first defeat in four games, having won three successive league matches to move up to 13th in the Conference table.

It was also Lincoln's first loss since 49-year-old Moyses succeeded Gary Simpson as full-time Imps boss.

"It was a reality check which puts us in better stead for the Christmas period," he told the club website.

"The league is massive to us and we have to get right for that because it is where all our focus is.

"I was disappointed with the way we played, but I still thought we did enough to win the game. As a group of men I thought we had come a little bit further than that.

"We have picked the players up and it's a shot-term blip I'm sure."

Lincoln City return to league action on Saturday when they travel to Kidderminster Harriers, who are three places and four points above them in the table.
