Kelvin Langmead had become a fans' favourite at Northampton Town
Northampton Town have terminated the contracts of defender Kelvin Langmead and midfielder Ricky Ravenhill.
Sport scientist Craig Smith has also been released as part of a shake-up.
Langmead, 29, had spent 18 months on the sidelines with knee and Achilles injuries, before returning in October and leaves the club having made 104 appearances for the club.
The 33-year-old Ravenhill joined on an 18-month contract a year ago and has made 18 appearances this season.
"Ricky did a great job for us last year," boss Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Northampton. "We needed that type of player in the middle of the park.
"He's struggled to get into the side this year and he wants to play games. He was a great pro to work with and I'm sure he'll do well at his next club."

Langmead played just nine games since his return in October and departs after three-and-a-half years at Sixfields.
"The club moves on. I've got to take the emotion out of it. People have their opinions on players, formations, managers or whatever," said Langmead.
"That's the beauty of the game. I have to back my judgement and that of the coaching staff and the chairman.
"There's always players that supporters will look back on and thank for their time at the club and have their opinions on, but we have to look forward to the likes of Ryan Cresswell, Lawson D'Ath and Marc Richards to take us forward to the next level."
