Mickael Antoine-Curier says it was not easy to leave Hamilton Academical but that it was something he felt he needed to do.

The France-born striker asked to be released by the New Douglas Park side before the transfer window closed.

"It was a hard decision but I preferred to turn the page in my career," he told BBC Scotland.

Antoine-Curier has played for 18 clubs during his senior career but does not yet know what his next move will be.

However, the 31-year-old's family are based in Hamilton and his preference is to remain in the United Kingdom.

Accies re-signed striker Jason Scotland in the week leading up to the departure of Antoine-Curier, who has scored eight times in 2014-15.

He re-joined Hamilton in 2013 after a spell in Kazakhstan.
