St Mirren: Gary Teale given two-match ban for referee comments

St Mirren manager Gary Teale has been given a two-match touchline ban by the Scottish FA for comments he made about referee Steven McLean in January.

Teale will sit in the stand for the match at Aberdeen, but the second match is a suspended ban until the end of the season, pending a further breach.

He suggested Yoann Arquin was the victim of a premeditated red card in the 2-1 loss to Dundee on 24 January.

Arquin was on a booking before getting a second yellow card for diving.

The red card was Arquin's second in his first three matches for the Buddies but the first, against former club Ross County, was overturned after St Mirren contested the decision.

"I thought both bookings were very, very soft," said Teale in his BBC Scotland post-match interview at the time.

"Was that maybe because we had the red card rescinded from last week? It's a very cynical way of looking at things."

Teale also complained that Dundee's equaliser was offside but later apologised to McLean after reviewing match footage.

The SFA proved Teale had breached rule 72 by "criticising the performance of match officials in a manner which indicated bias or incompetence on their part".
