Cardiff City could add former Wales midfielder Paul Trollope to their coaching staff.

The club are keen to strengthen the coaching staff of manager Russell Slade, as he bids to stave off a Championship relegation fight.

Trollope was previously first-team coach at Birmingham City and Norwich City, working alongside Chris Hughton.

During five years as manager of Bristol Rovers he guided the club to promotion to League One in 2007., external

Swindon-born Trollope, who won nine caps for Wales between 1997 and 2003, was a guest in the Chairman's Suite for Cardiff City's 0-0 home draw with Brighton on Tuesday night.

Cardiff sources say an appointment is imminent, and Trollope, whose coaching skills are highly regarded in the game, is the favourite to land the role.
