Southampton have sent record signing Dani Osvaldo on loan to Argentine side Boca Juniors after recalling him from a similar spell at Inter Milan.

If Boca reach the Copa Libertadores final, the Italy international's spell will end three days before the 2015-16 Premier League begins on 8 August.

The 29-year-old joined from Roma for £15m in 2013, but played just 13 games before being suspended after a training-ground fight with Jose Fonte.

He had loans at Juventus and Inter.

Osvaldo, who was born in Argentina and is a Boca Juniors fan, has been able to make his move as their transfer window closes on Sunday.

He scored seven goals in 19 games during his loan spell at Inter this season.

Meanwhile, Saints defender Bevis Mugabi has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with the club.

The 20-year-old, who has been at Southampton since 2011, follows fellow youngster Ross Turnbull in agreeing a new deal at St Mary's.
