Fleetwood Town 2-1 Notts County

  • Published

Fleetwood came from behind to keep up with the play-off pack as they beat Notts County at Highbury.

Garry Thompson gave County an early lead when the hosts failed to clear a free-kick and his piledriver beat Chris Maxwell.

Liam McAlinden levelled before Nick Haughton's trickery found David Ball to slot home and complete the turnaround.

Stephen Crainey earned a second booking for a foul on Curtis Thompson, but the Cod Army hung on for the win.

The win moves Fleetwood up to eighth and within a point of the League One play-off places, while Notts have now lost five of their last six league games.

Notts County manager Shaun Derry told BBC Radio Nottingham:

Derry on Fleetwood v Notts County

"We've entered a run of games where we have expected results, and with the greatest of respects to our opponents, I came here expecting a victory, and we should have got one.

"With the greatest of respect to Fleetwood, their two goals were terrible. Both of the goals were bad defending from us.

"We've played well and that shows how cruel this game is."
