Struggling Leyton Orient beat Oldham Athletic to secure just their third home league win of the season.

Orient went ahead early on through Andrea Dossena and David Mooney's penalty doubled their lead after Jobi McAnuff was brought down by Liam Kelly.

O's keeper Alex Cisak saved Jonathan Forte's second-half penalty after Rhys Murphy was fouled and Kelly smashed the follow-up against the bar.

Substitute Jay Simpson slotted home in stoppage time to seal the victory.

Orient remain 23rd in the table but are now two points from safety while Oldham drop to ninth, although they remain two points off the play-off places.

Leyton Orient left-back Andrea Dossena told BBC London 94.9:

"It is important to us because at home we need confidence, as we are not in a good situation.

"We need to win some more points at home. We need to stay focused as it is a long time until May.

"I know we have a lot of injuries from when we started. We are a great team and we can get over this problem."

Oldham Athletic manager Lee Johnson told BBC Radio Manchester:

"I thought the lads, individually, played well and I thought we kept going right to the end.

"It was a game that was won on the little events. I'm talking about a couple of little referee decisions which gave them a head of steam.

"If I have got a criticisms of us, it's just that little soft underbelly. When it comes to the business end of the season you have got to have men and you've got to have leaders.
